Ford Ranger Camper Shell – I recently went on the road trip down the Pacific Coast. I‘d been awed from the majestic Redwoods that stood like proud titans protecting our nation’s sacred lands and wildlife. While driving down the highway with towering trees on either side from the road, CB, my nature-loving spouse, remarked it was eventually like driving via a church.
Actually, the light filtering with the trees was harking back to pictures I saw inside an illustrated storybook of Bible stories that I enjoyed like a young girl.
Admiring the magnificence from the California and Oregon coast, I contemplated the vastness from the ocean as well as what my role could be in protecting and preserving the beauty and sanctity in our planet. The planet seemed vast, yet while enveloped during this wondrous terrain, I additionally felt empowered to embark on the life mission to take action truly great.
Then reality set in.
We stopped to the night inside an RV park and an angry young man was screaming such violent obscenities at his wife the police were called in. I feared to the safety from the woman and her baby. However, the mere presence from the police car was sufficient to quiet the man down and restore peace towards the park. I doubt it experienced a lasting effect, but to the time, things were quiet again.
Unfortunately, I Not felt as empowered as I earlier. This violent scene temporarily sucked the courage to improve the planet right from me. I will only imagine how this angry man’s wife and baby felt.
It occurred to me that anger and fear can possess a shrinking effect. A minimum of it will for myself. It would appear that all one’s attention is requried to be made by something very narrow and confining. I once heard that we have to have an expansive outlook to ensure that we will embrace the encompassing area – the planet – as well as the galaxy.
Sometimes, my mentor, Akiko, would ask how big was my world? Not THE world, but MY world. When I am angry, hurt or fearful, my world is so small. What I am angry about is all I will take into consideration. It is like if you get a toothache. You might be in expansive, even beautiful surroundings, but all you are able to take into consideration is nasty, throbbing ache with your mouth. Your world has infinite possibilities, however the reality can it be becomes the scale a tooth.
During our travels, the confined physical conditions of my sleeping arrangements that I share with spouse, a bunny, his cage, and also a plethora of camping equipment that encompasses our Ford 150 truck and camper, is very small. CB arranges it nicely, however it can be a challenge to maneuver. CB calls our little camper shell, Casa Bonka, since the likelihood we‘ll bonk our heads is almost inevitable.
But I do not have to reside in a camper shell. I temporarily sleep in one, but anytime I will step or crawl from our vehicle, look into the glistening starts and have the infinite universe and possibilities that await me.
